Postdoctoral Fellowship Projects

KIC Experimental Postdoctoral Fellowships

KIC Experimental Postdoctoral Fellowships are high-profile, 2- to 3-year postdoctoral positions with significant independence and resources. The KIC Fellows program is designed to attract the best and brightest experimental researchers in nanoscale science to Cornell.  They will have access to the unparalleled resources and faculty available at Cornell in nanoscale science and technology. Candidates should be within 18 months of their PhD graduation date and should not already have been a postdoc at Cornell for more than 9 months at the time of the deadline.

Bethe/Wilkins/KIC Theory Postdoctoral Fellowships

Bethe/Wilkins/KIC Theory Fellowships are high-profile 2-year postdoctoral positions with significant independence and resources. This program is designed to attract the best and brightest theoretical physicists within 3 years of their PhD to Cornell, where they have access to the unparalleled resources and faculty available at Cornell in nanoscale science and technology. This position is supported in part by the Hans Bethe Postdoctoral Fellowship, by the John Wilkins Postdoctoral Fellowship, and by the Kavli Institute at Cornell.

KIC Engineering Graduate Fellowship Projects

KIC graduate fellowships, available to students in their last year of PhD study, are high-profile “Finishing Fellowships” for promising young researchers who work in the area of nanoscale science. Two fellowships are available for the 2025/2026 academic year, to be awarded to promising graduate students at Cornell University in fields within the College of Engineering.

The deadline for the 2026 application cycle has passed, and the 2027 application cycle has not yet opened.


KIC Instrumentation Projects

KIC Instrumentation Projects support the purchase, development, and use of novel scientific tools and approaches for probing the nanoscale.
