Israel Gabay
KIC Postdoctoral Fellow (2025 - pres)
Research
Israel Gabay’s research sits at the intersection of fluid dynamics, soft matter physics, and biological transport phenomena. His doctoral work at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology focused on the mechanics and dynamics of thin liquid films, particularly their deformation and application in adaptive optical systems. At Cornell, his research expands into plant biophysics, where he investigates the coupling between hydromechanical and electrophysiological processes underlying long distance signaling in plants. By integrating physical modeling with experimental approaches, his work aims to uncover how plants sense, process, and respond to environmental stresses. His broader interests include transport phenomena, interfacial flows, and physics driven mechanisms in living systems.
